Finn Allen: The Rise of a T20 Powerhouse

Early Career & U-19 World Cup Success

Finn Allen’s journey began on the world stage during the 2016 and 2018 Under-19 World Cups. While 2016 offered a glimpse of his potential, the 2018 tournament was his true breakout. He scored the competition’s first century against the West Indies and finished as New Zealand’s top run-scorer with 338 runs, signaling the arrival of a special talent.

Domestic Dominance & National Call-up

After a pivotal move to Wellington for the 2020-21 season, Allen lit up the Super Smash. He propelled Wellington to the title by finishing as the tournament’s leading run-scorer with 512 runs at a staggering strike rate. This dominance led to his senior international debut against Bangladesh in March 2021, where he famously hammered 71 off just 29 balls in his third T20I appearance.

Record-Breaking Achievements

Allen’s most iconic performance came on January 17, 2024, when he struck a monumental 137 off 62 balls against Pakistan. During this innings, he cleared the ropes 16 times, shattering the record for the most sixes by a New Zealander in a T20I match and equaling the world record. In 2025, he continued his global assault by smashing a Major League Cricket (MLC) record 151 off 52 balls for the San Francisco Unicorns.
