Adam Milne: The Palmerston North Speedster
A Meteoric Rise to Stardom
Milne’s journey to the top was nearly instantaneous. At just 17, while still playing school cricket, he was fast-tracked into the Central Districts side. His First-Class debut in 2010 against Canterbury remains legendary; he took a wicket with his second delivery and finished with 4/52. His raw, frightening pace immediately caught the eyes of the national selectors, earning him a New Zealand T20I debut against Pakistan that same year.
The Burden of Pace: Injuries and Comebacks
Despite being touted as the fastest bowler in New Zealand since Shane Bond, Milne’s career has often been interrupted by the physical toll of his high-intensity action. He was a vital part of the 2015 World Cup squad until a heel injury cruelly ruled him out before the semi-final. For years, he battled hamstring, side, and elbow issues, yet his ability to return and immediately bowl at 150 kmph has kept him in high demand across global T20 leagues.
IPL Journey: Joining the Rajasthan Royals in 2026
After early stints with Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), Mumbai Indians (MI), and Chennai Super Kings (CSK), Milne has found a new home for the 2026 season.
-
2015–2017: Represented RCB, though limited by fitness.
-
2021–2022: Featured for MI and CSK as a specialist powerplay and death bowler.
-
2026 Season: Following a dominant 2025 where he led the attack for Sunrisers Eastern Cape in SA20 and Karachi Kings in PSL, Rajasthan Royals won a fierce bidding war against Delhi Capitals to sign him for ₹2.40 Crore.
